TSC status for the week of 11.04.2013
David Meyer <dmm@...>
The TSC met on 11.07.2013 with a fairly full agenda. The key
objectives this week were to initiate a "Project Status Report" series
(this week the Controller and OVSDB projects provided reports) and to
decide whether OVSDB would be included in the ODP base addition.
With respect to Project Status, Ed Warnike reported on the Controller
project status. Ed reported that the Controller project is on track
although making the M5 milestone (Monday, 11.11.2013) will be tight.
Our analysis is that while there are a few issues that need cleaning
up, there is no cause for concern and overall the Controller project
is on track.
Madhu Venugopal and Brent Salisbury reported on the OVSDB project.
OVSDB is on track and going very well. Madhu gave a very nice demo of
the OVSDB project (fully working code and a nice GUI, running on
mininet) and the TSC decided that demos should be included in the
Project Status update. In addition, the OVSDB team has developed
several innovation approached to building community, including Google
hangouts for weekly calls and building a Youtube channel. In addition,
they are working on additional Integration testing with other
projects, including the various virtualization project components
(this slowed down a bit due to the OpenStack summit this week).
Another new report that we thought would be useful for the Board is
weekly counts of commits and contributors. These can be considered as
indicators of project activity and community growth. For example, as
of this morning ODP had 2442 commits from 104 contributors, up from
2112 commits and 94 contributors two weeks ago (so 330 new commits and
10 new committers over the last two weeks). Please let us know if you
would like more granularity (normally the statistics above would be
weekly) in reporting or if there are other metrics you would find
useful. In addition, please see http://www.ohloh.net/p/opendaylight
for a nice page containing many metrics of interest (thanks Madhu for
this).
Finally, the TSC unanimously voted to include OVSDB in the ODP Base
Edition, so congratulations to the OVSDB team.
Overall, very good progress.
Please let me know if you have questions or comments.
Thnx,
