scheduling project proposals

Colin Dixon

Hi all,

If you're on the To: line of this mail it's because you've recently proposed a project to be considered by the TSC which has met the two week public review period and is eligible to have a creation review during tomorrow's (or any later) TSC meeting.

I wanted to reach out to ask if you are ready for a creation review at this point and when you might like to schedule it.

I'll note that during the 10/23 meeting [0], we agreed that the last date to have the creation review done in order to participate in the Lithium release would be no earlier than 11/21, 12/5 and 12/12 for offset 0, 1 and 2 projects. (For definitions of offsets see the draft lithium release plan [1].)

Along those lines, there is no *need* for creation reviews to be scheduled for tomorrow. Further, my guess is that most (if not all) of these projects will be offset 1 or offset 2 meaning it won't be necessary to have a creation review for another several weeks. Even for offset 0 projects, we have the 11/6, 11/13, and 11/20 TSC meetings remaining.

The projects:

Hi Colin, Ed, Jan,

according to the https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/TSC:Main#Meeting_Schedule_and_Logistics, there are no Creation Reviews registered for today, but actually its hart for me to adapt today 11/6 10:00am PDT (out of Inet access). So I will prefer to have the SXP project proposal Creation Review the next TSC meeting 11/13 and I will schedule myself ahead.

Thanks

Milo

Thanks for getting back to me.

Sure. I can schedule you for then. There is a small chance that we might ask to delay it if we are still working to resolve the Lithium schedule, but I'm really hoping it won't come to that. :-)

We usually try to do these early-ish in the meeting, so probably starting around 10:15–10:20a pacific time.

Just to provide some extra information for those of you who haven't seen a creation review before.

They typically last about 20–30 minutes. People usually either bring slides or just use their proposal if it goes into sufficient detail. A few diagrams of the major components and how they interact are often useful. We conduct the meeting on IRC as well as WebEx, so it's useful to have the slides posted to the wiki before the meeting, that way we can link them in.

You can find details about both the WebEx and IRC on the TSC page here:
https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/TSC:Main

The most common questions that come up are:
1.) What problem is being solved here? What is the scope of the project?
2.) How should we expect it to interact with other related components that are already in ODL?

We should probably write this stuff down on the Project Proposals page [0] so that people can get it easily. I'll try to do that later today.

Cheers,

Colin Dixon

I just wanted to reach out again. We've had 3 new project proposals:
These new projects will be eligible for a creation review starting with the 12/4 meeting. We also have formal dates for when the creation review must happen (by M1 in the Lithium release plan [0]). My guess is that most of these projects will want to participate at offset 2 and that would mean the last date for a creation review would be 1/8, but projects should feel free to make that determination on their own.

So far, we have only scheduled two creation reviews: SXP for tomorrow and CAPWAP for 11/20.

For the other project proposals, please let the TSC know when and if you'd like to have your creation review.

Thanks,
