IRC reminderbot?

Robert Varga

Hey everyone,

with gerritbot being AWOL these days(*) it feels lonesome on
#opendaylight. Could we have a reminderbot which will advertize stuff?

- upcoming release milestones
- upcoming community calls
- upcoming events

etc.

Obviously once we have a bot, IRC is not the only medium.

Is this something we can explore?

Regards,
Robert

[*] and please, can we have gerritbot back? it provides a very useful
event feed. Perhaps as a feed? I do not care :)

Hi, Robert.

The LF is working on standing up a chat service.  I am not certain if they have settled on Slack or one of its alternatives, but I believe that there will be an option for us to be on the early adoption list sometime this quarter or early Q2.  I agree though, if we stay with IRC or even on a new chat platform, we should have a nice bot.  :)

What requirements would we want from the bot, if any, other than advertisements for release and events?
Would advertisements be maintained by the community through moderation and !commands or LF?

Best,
