Proposal for Virtual Tenant Network

Tomohisa YAMABE <t-yamabe@...>

Hello,

Proposal for Virtual Tenant Network (VTN) project has been uploaded on the following wiki page.

https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/OpenDaylight_Virtual_Tenant_Network_(VTN):Proposal

We are planning to contribute the source code of VTN.
Please elaborate on the following points so that we can make the arrangements for registering the same.

* Specific steps for registering the source code
Major portion of VTN source code has been written in C/C++, and some portions are written in Java.

* Package name used in Java
Currently, package name that we are using starts with com.nec.
Could we use, e.g., org.opendaylight.vtn, to change this to a vender neutral name?

* Deep dive
We would like to have deep dive session during the Hack fest on May 21 if it's appropriate.

Regards,

so we wil be sorting this out over the next few days.

Thank you again for your contribution.

I don't think that C/C++ should present any problem.

calls for a minimum two week public comment period for project proposals (presuming you are seeking
to enter as an incubation project, rather than a bootstrap project).  Once that period has passed a
creation review will be held, and presuming the TSC approves (which I would expect) development
resources (like git repos, etc) will be provided.

Because contributions of existing code need to go through IPR review prior to the creation review,
I would expect you would need to provide the code to the OpenDaylight staff for that process to conclude prior
to your creation review.  You should email Phil Robb <probb@...> to arrange for those mechanics
sooner rather than later.

* Package name used in Java
Currently, package name that we are using starts with com.nec.
Could we use, e.g., org.opendaylight.vtn, to change this to a vender neutral name?

Yes, org.opendaylight.vtn sounds very reasonable as a vendor neutral package name.

It is generally a good practice for packages to be named org.opendaylight.<repo name>, and I would expect
your git repo to be named vtn given the project name :)

* Deep dive
We would like to have deep dive session during the Hack fest on May 21 if it's appropriate.

I believe that the hackfest is being moved out towards June 6-7… it would be awesome to do a deep dive
then :)

Hello Titcheu,

Thank you for having interest in VTN project.

This is an open source project, so you can freely participate
in discussion and freely contribute to the project.
I think the following page would be helpful for you to participate
on the project.
http://www.opendaylight.org/developers/how-participate

VTN Proposal has been accepted into Bootstrap State in the TSC
call yesterday.
So I think a repository and mailing lists for VTN Project will be created within a few days.
After the repository created, we will upload the source code of VTN Coordinator into it.

I will let you know when the mailing lists of VTN Project will be created.
Any ideas, questions, suggestions or contributions would be welcome.

Thanks,
Hide

How to post a project proposal

daniel.bartos@...

Hello,
We just became a member of ODP and would like to get ready to post a project proposal. However I'm confused how to do it as dedicated page is not clear about it: https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/Project_Proposals:Main

Is there a unified form for writing the proposal? Where are others' proposals stored? .... Please advice.

Thank you,

Hi Daniel, the existing "template" is I think the currently approved proposals on the wiki. You can see them at the bottom of the page here. The technical team on the mailing list may have a blank template somewhere and I'll let them respond if they do, but I'm not aware of one that exists today.

Daniel,
As Mike pointed you to, there are instructions here:
And I'm told if you create your new page of the form [[Project_Proposals:Foo| The Foo Proposal]] that it will
drop you into the proper template.
There is some additional information here:
About the project lifecycle.

Great to see this. Thanks! Have you thought about whether you would
like to join the Simultaneous Release [0] and if so when?

Thanks again,

Hi David,
We have thought about it and we wish to join the Simultaneous Release. Any special things we need to do besides what is written in the below page?

Thanks,
Gal

Gal,
Once you have a project approved, you just need to add yourself to the

Re: Lisp MappingService proposal

What Ed said, notiing that the TSC needs to approve the project so you
might want to schedule a walk-through for the TSC and/or Technical
Workstream call. Then we can start thinking about when the TSC can act
on the request and how that fits with the release milestone schedule.

YANG Tools Proposal

Tony Tkacik

Hi All,
I've added a new proposal for OpenDaylight. Please see all details at:
https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/Project_Proposals:YANG_Tools

Thanks,

Tony Tkacik

Re: YANG Tools Proposal

Tony Tkacik

Hi All,
I've added a new proposal for OpenDaylight. Please see all details at:
https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/Project_Proposals:YANG_Tools

As the proposal is to seed it with some initial yang code from controller, I'd like to ask the

controller committers blessing for moving the code to the new yangtools project.

Thanks,

Tony Tkacik

+1 as a controller committer to moving the yangtools code from the controller project to a new yangtools project.
