答复: MPLS-TP solution project proposal
Weiqiang Cheng <chengweiqiang@...>
Hi Colin and George, Thank you very much for your reply. I just looked at the MPLS-TP service project proposal briefly. It seems that there are some overlaps for the requirement. However, the implementation approach seems different. Let me give some background of our proposal.: - Our implementation is the solution to address our standard efforts actively worked by both ONF and ITU-T. If you want to know information about the ONF/ITU-T effort, I’d be happy to provide more details about it. - For the software implementation, up to now, we have already created prototype coding and in the process of finalizing and testing. In fact, we have done a lot of integration with several different vendors platform. The result looks very promising. I’ve added several of my colleagues, in case they have more information to share with us. B.R. Weiqiang Cheng

Hi Weiqiang,
I added your proposal to the wiki page under proposals submitted for review section.
Without digging into details, somehow, MPLS-TP Solution proposal looks similar with MPLS-TP service https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/Project_Proposals:MPLS-TP_Service
thanks, George

Hi Weiqiang, I
know it may be allowed to have two implementations. But doesn't it make
sense to collaborate together if they are basically going to do exactly
the same thing in two different approaches? I am not sure how much
these two projects have already progressed in design and implementation.
If one is leading, it may make sense for the proposed committers from
the other team to join them.If only the implementation approach is different with a large overlap in the goal (even the names suggest so), doesn't it make sense to collaborate and make a stronger project instead of making two similar projects inside OpenDaylight?
