I believe we met briefly at the summit :).  As part of the Carbon release, the controller team is cleaning up and removing some code, including the karaf-parent artifact.  The karaf-parent artifact was moved from controller to odlparent for architectural reasons.  I would appreciate if you could review and merge this patch [0], which makes the switch in the alto project.  As always, feel free to reach out if you have questions!
