[netvirt-dev] Queries about Open vSwitch HWVTEP Emulator HA Cluster and its communication failure problem

Hi ran,
For this to work, you need to create an m-lag between the access ports on the 2 hwvtep emulators. I am not sure if this functionality is supported in the emulator itself. We have tested with physical switches supporting mlag as well as hwvtep in our testing.

Thanks,
daya

Subject: [netvirt-dev] Queries about Open vSwitch HWVTEP Emulator HA Cluster and its communication failure problem

Hi All,

I created an HA Cluster of Open vSwitch HEVTEP Emulator to run L2GW in virtual environment.
After finished building the virtual environment, I faced a communication failure problem.
Can someone help to answer my following questions?

Environment details:
OpenStack version:stable/ocata
ODL version:Carbon-FR + patch
patch: https://git.opendaylight.org/gerrit/#/c/56773/
https://git.opendaylight.org/gerrit/#/c/56710/
HWVTEP: Open vSwitch 2.6.1 HWVTEP Emulator
: HA Cluster

1. Is my configuration of HA Cluster correct?
(Attachment 'OVS_HWVTEP_Emulator.PNG')
Settings of Open vSwtich HWVTEP Emulator Node and KVM host are list in attached file 'configuration.txt'.
All the nodes are created in the virtual environment.

2. The communication between DHCP namespace (Contriller Node1) and baremetal server failed. (ping)
Packet from DHCP namespace and packet from baremetal server are send to each other via different Open vSwitch HWVTEP Emulator Node, which caused the failure of acquiring VTEP MAC.
The details can be checked in attached file with name 'ping_problem.PNG'.
I wonder if this problem also occurs in other HWVTEP?

Thanks in advance.

BR,
Ran
