Termination review for spectrometer

Thanh Ha <thanh.ha@...>

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to issue a termination review for the Spectrometer project. Considering there's been no activity on this project for about a year now I think it's about time we officially shut this down.

https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/Project_Proposals:Main#Instructions_for_Submitting_Termination_Review

Please vote +1 / -1 if you agree/disagree.

Thanks,
Thanh

What is a termination review and why do we need to spend any time on this?

The LF’s ODL management effectively killed off the project when the decision was made to go with bitergia about a year ago, so I am not sure why we need to bother with anything else at this point.

Hi Tom,

It's the official process from the OpenDaylight TSC as documented by the link I provided for terminating a project.

Either the project initiates it by voting and then asking for the project to be archived OR we just leave it and after 18 months the TSC can initiate it.

If there's no objections I will just bring it up to the TSC myself since I am a committer of the project.

Regards,
Thanh

I was hoping we could use this project to store the automation code for generating the “managed projects” checklist matrix.

Would it be possible to discuss more during the integration call?

For example, I can check in the python code for scraping the projects tsc participation from irc logs.

Best Regards,

An Ho

If there is interest in maintaining this project then I'm ok with keeping it around but I do not plan to allocate any more of my time to this project as I am no longer able to commit any time to this project.

Thanh

I can’t speak for everyone, but this is fine with me.

All,

If there is no business value to keep the project around, I am okay with archiving it.
